The fastest, easiest and safest way to seal registers for duct leakage testing is using a method
called "pans and poles."The two most important benefits are that this method is faster and does
not require cumbersome and dangerous ladders.
SBSI’s Duc-Bloc™ pans are the product of extensive research and development. They are air-tight
and seal around irregularities in ceilings. We tested various types of foam and have come up
with a double-density system that is highly effective. We’ve added legs to the blocs to protect
this foam and to allow for easy stacking and transport.
Used in conjunction with ZipWall® Spring Loaded poles, you can set up in much less time
than it takes to use the old tape and ladder method. ZipWall® poles have a special snap-on
bracket that makes attaching to the duc-bloc quick and simple.
The spring-loaded action makes the pressure constant and even. You can even set the pole on
top of delicate furniture. Each pole has a large rubber end and comes with a rubber GripDisk™
that prevents scratching and slipping. These poles also have a really nice locking action that is
much faster and easier than the screw-type lock on painter’s poles.
Sierra Building Science, Inc. has put together a variety of Duc-Bloc™ and pole packages to fit
any budget.
